Mental Wellness Meditation App for Women

Listening to podcasts which have tools on how to help you improve overall well being can also be good for your mental health.

Listen & Live Well

Numerous studies have found that listeners create a calming, reassuring and even healing environment for themselves while they are engrossed in a helpful podcast.

This is because when people listen to podcasts instead of watching them, it forces them to use their imagination and build the pictures in their mind.

Anxiety can steal your joy, make you feel depressed, irritated all the time, overwhelmed and not able to deal with life’s problems. Listening to a podcast is like tuning into a type of meditation and this helps release dopamine in the brain.

Dopamine plays an important role in your motivation and even your movement. Without it, you have no drive, you feel tired, can’t concentrate and may feel hopeless and anxious. It’s released when your brain is expecting a reward, completed a task or has reached a goal.

What’s more, podcasts are a great way to learn more about mental health issues, strategies to cope and how to take the time for self-care.

Meet Dr Bec Jackson

Dr Bec Jackson is a Consulting Psychologist and specialises in many areas of psychology – clinical, forensic, health and organisational settings. She works with adults, children, teens, and older adults in both the public and private sector.

In general mental health, the most common challenges I see are stress and anxiety, grief and relationship challenges. This is not just isolated to the part of the population who have diagnosed mental health concerns, but many people struggle with these concerns.

Among younger people most recently, it has been an uptake in vaping, issues with body image and cyber bullying that I get asked about most frequently.
